Oreo Cookie Lab Abstract
Author: Ethyn, Pentucket H.S
Lab conducted on Sept. 12, 2013
Students measured the filling in three types of Oreo cookie to determine if filling amounts matched advertising.
Hypothesis: I believe that the advertising stating that the double-stuf and mega-stuf oreos have double and triple the amounts of filling than a regular oreo.
Method:
- Measure each cookie with filling.
- After measuring each cookie take the cookie part off of one.
- Measure the mass of the cookie part.
- Subtract the cookie part's mass x2 from the original measurement to find the mass of the filling.
| With cookie and filling|cookie part| math |result
Original | 12g |4.4g | 12-8.8 | 3.2g
| | | |
Double-stuf| 15.6g |4.4g | 15.6-8.8 |6.8g
| | | |
Mega-stuf | 18.3g |4.4g | 18.3-8.8 |9.5g
Conclusion- The Oreos do in fact live up to the advertisement's claim.
